Hosted by
Associate Professor Curt Benson and Attorney at Law Mike Dunn

The Devil is in the Details!
Curt Benson and Mike Dunn have been practicing law for a combined 37 years.
Curt Benson grew up in a legal household: his father is Judge Robert Benson, his brother and sister are attorneys, his wife is a judge and his grandfather was also an attorney; that is not even including the legal expertise of Curt's extended family!

During his Juris Doctor education at the Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Curt clerked with Cholette, Perkins and Buchanan until 1986, when he received his degree. He became Associate Attouney the same year with Dennenberg, Tuffley and Jamison, and remained for 6years.
In 1992, Curt created a business with a fellow law partner to form Benson and Tacket, P.C., until 1996. Then he went it alone and practiced for nearly a decade before being lured into the Visiting Professorship at his Alma Mater, the Thomas M. Cooley Law School - Grand Rapids campus. He has since made Associate Professor and Thomas M. Cooley has never been the same since!

Aside from his career, Curt also served for six years as member of the Grand Rapids Public Schools Board of Education, two years as President and two years as Vice-president.

Author of Coverage for Specialized Risks – Boiler, Builders Risk, Employment, and Marine, Michigan Insurance Law and Practice (ICLE, 2002).  Curt has been hailed as a community leader and legal expert, at least that is what he tells everyone!

He lives in Grand Rapids with his wife Jane, son Bo and daughter Catlin, cats: pepper and pete.

Mike Dunn hails for the Windy City where he was a business owner before turning to the law. Mike received his Juris Doctor degree from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago. He moved to Grand Rapids in 1987 and began his legal career at Varnum, Riddering, Schmidt and Howlett, where he practiced in both their Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo offices. Afterward, he attended Western Michigan University for a Masters in Business Administration, where he was also an Adjunct Professor.
Mike is partner at Dunn Gibbons, PLC, in downtown Grand Rapids, in the McKay Tower. His legal focus is Divorce/family law along with Criminal Defense - he is from Chicago after all!

Mike also chairs the Township Zoning Board of Appeals in Caledonia, where he lives with his three sons, Michael, Griffin, and Keifer.
