The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office is issuing a warning about a phone scam where the caller claims to be a member of the sheriff's office.
Over the last week, several reports about scammers claiming to be a sergeant or lieutenant have been received by the office. The calls say victims have missed things like jury duty or have an outstanding warrant that must be paid off or else they'd be arrested. One victim sent over $800 dollars.
