Ottawa County Sheriff Steve Kempker is announcing Sergeant Eric DeBoer will serve as the next Undersheriff.
Undersheriff Valerie Weiss is retiring from the role on February 28.
DeBoer began his career with the department in 1999 as a reserve deputy.
He was then promoted to Road Patrol deputy in 2001, detective in 2014 and Road Patrol Sergeant in 2022.
Kempker says, "DeBoer has always displayed the talents, abilities and skill level for this important leadership role."
He will take over the role on March 3.
