E. coli causes Grand Haven dredging project to pause

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is pausing a dredging operation at North Park Beach in Grand Haven due to elevated levels of E. coli.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers resident engineer Liz Newell Wilkinson says the agency is working with local officials to make sure the project is completed safely.

The park will be closed until testing shows levels of E.coli are acceptable.

The cause of the bacteria has not been determined.
