A former candidate for Muskegon County judge was sentenced to probation on Wednesday.
Jason Kolkema pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor domestic violence charge as part of a plea deal in December.
He was recorded in August allegedly abusing his girlfriend.
Kolkema says he did not intend to hit her and only wanted to scare her.
He was sentenced to six months of probation.
