Car ripped in two in Paw Paw Township crash

PAW PAW TOWNSHIP (WOOD-AM) - The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a car split in half during a crash in Paw Paw Township.

It happened last night near County Road 374 and County Road 671.

Investigators say the driver lost control, went off the roadway and struck a tree. The force of the crash caused the car to rip into two pieces.

The driver was ejected. The 53-year-old Lawrence man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

It's believed that speed and alcohol are factors, but the exact cause of the wreck remains under investigation.
