Investigation ongoing after shooting of Muskegon Heights BOE member

MUSKEGON HEIGHTS (WOOD-AM) - The investigation is ongoing after newly-elected Muskegon Heights Board of Education member Julius Mohammed was fatally shot at his home late Monday.

Police say he was shot in the head shortly after answering his front door. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The 53-year-old's shooting is not believed to be connected to his election.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact the Muskegon Heights Police Department or Muskegon County Silent Observer.
