Individuals experiencing an emergency in Kent County can now text 911.
The Kent County Sheriff's Department and the Grand Rapids Police Department are both using text-to-911 programs.
Officials urge individuals to only use the feature when a phone call is not an option.
Dispatchers recommend starting a text message with your location so officials can access your exact location.
