'Pretty rare' find; more mastodon bones unearthed in Kent Co.

KENT CITY, Mich. - After a three-foot-long femur from the remains of a mastodon were found last month along 22 Mile Road in Kent City, University of Michigan and Grand Rapids Public Museum researchers have uncovered a little more of the mystery of the unearthed bones.

Busscher Development and the GRPM recovered 32 more bones last week, and have determined the bones belonged to mastodons that died at the ages of nine and 11 years old.
