Motion to adjourn prelim to be considered in Schurr case this morning

GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - A hearing in court is scheduled for today in the Patrick Lyoya second-degree murder case.

Attorneys for Christopher Schurr have filed a motion to adjourn the August 30 preliminary hearing as they look to get more information from GRPD.

WOOD-TV says Schurr's legal team wants training records and departmental training materials, policies and procedures between 2015 and 2022.

If convicted, Schurr, 31, could spend the rest of his life in prison.
