GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has signed into law a record state budget.

"It is a budget that we can all be proud of," Whitmer said. The budget was the product of months of negotiations between her administration and the top Republicans in the state legislature.

The $75.5 billion plan includes $6 billion for roads and infrastructure and more money for public safety, scholarships, retraining and lead water line replacement.

The budget also adds another $180 million to the state's rainy day fund.

Also in the budget: $10 million for a new children's rehabilitation hospital and $30 million for the riverfront amphitheater project in Grand Rapids.
