Man, 25, Killed in Downtown Grand Rapids Shooting

GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - A man is dead and three others are hurt following an early Sunday shooting along Pearl Street between Monroe and Ottawa avenues in downtown Grand Rapids.

The 25-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Family members have identified the victim as Armonie Acklin. A candlelight vigil was held yesterday.

"A fight broke out and he was trying to help break up the fight and then the fight was over and someone pulled out a gun and shot him, as far as we know," Acklin's mother, Brenda Bables, told WOOD-TV.

The other three men are expected to survive.
