Trespassing Charge Leads to Demotion of Lowell PD Sgt.

LOWELL, Mich. - Sgt. Scot VanSolkema has been demoted by the Lowell Police Department to a patrol officer following a trespassing charge at Forest Hills Central High School back in Dec. 14.

The 43-year-old was given a misdemeanor trespassing charge after an internal police investigation.

VanSolkema has been with the department since 2004 and served as sergeant since 2020. Detective Gordy Lauren has been promoted to sergeant.
