Back to Class at Muskegon Heights Elementary After Partial Ceiling Collapse

MUSKEGON HEIGHTS (WOOD-AM) - In-person learning will resume at Martin Luther King Junior Elementary in Muskegon Heights today.

Inspectors have investigated the portion of the auditorium ceiling that collapsed at the school last year. Nothing hazardous was found.

Previously, the fire marshal said it was OK for students to be in other areas of the school.

The school is taking donations to help cover the cost of repairs.

"We have a quote of $179,000 and we, at this moment, don’t have that, so we are absolutely willing to take donations if anybody is willing to donate to that cause,” Superintendent Arnetta Thompson said.
