Bill to honor fallen Kalamazoo officer passes MI House

A bill that would dedicate part of US-131 in Kalamazoo to Sergeant Ryan J. Proxmire has passed the Michigan House.

The bill was introduced in November to honor Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Ryan Proxmire who was killed in the line of duty in August 2021.

His wife, Roanna Proxmire, says the memorial would be important for the community.

The memorial would begin on US-131 at West U Avenue and continue to mile marker 35.

The bill now moves to the Senate for approval.
