Former SOS says pre-processing absentee ballots a "success"

Former Secretary of State and current state Senator Ruth Johnson was behind the legislation that allowed absentee ballots to be pre-processed for 10 hours the day before the election.

Many clerks say the time was helpful but not enough to make a big enough impact on the time it took to tabulate and adjudicate absentee ballots.

The city of Grand Rapids spend almost 36 hours getting through over 59,000 absentee ballots this week.

Johnson says she thinks the legislation is a success.
