GRPD: Scene clear after searching home

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Officers have cleared a scene near a Grand Rapids home after executing a search warrant.

Grand Rapids police said they were assisting the Kent County Sheriff’s Department in executing a search warrant around 9:46 a.m. Tuesday at a home in the 900 block of Courtney Street NW near the intersection of Leonard Street and Alpine Avenue.

A SWAT unit was at the scene because there was an elevated risk in the search. A Grand Rapids police source previously said there was a gunman in the house, but that was incorrect.

Courtney Street was closed while officers surrounded the home. It’s unknown what led to the search.
