Community gathers to remember girl killed in crash

OAKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Purple balloons were released Saturday morning in remembrance of a young girl who was killed in a crash one year ago.

Cora Gonzales, 11, died last October, weeks after being hit by a vehicle while crossing M-57 in Oakfield Township.

On Saturday, her soccer club hosted the “Get Some Purple” Games at Boomer Park in Oakfield Township. Cora’s No. 5 was also retired by the club and her jersey was given to her parents.
