Wyoming names 1st female public safety chief

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — A familiar face on the force is now Wyoming’s first female director of public safety.

Capt. Kimberly Koster will be sworn in on Wednesday, April 25 – a day before current chief James E. Carmody retires.

Carmody served more than four decades in public safety, including 11 years with Wyoming.

Koster was unanimously chosen by the Wyoming City Council during its April 16 meeting. In her new role, Koster will lead a team of nearly 130 full-time employees, including 86 police officers and 29 firefighters.
