SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) — A worker at Clementine's restaurant in South Haven could face criminal charges after allegedly putting a camera in the employee restroom, police say.
South Haven Police Chief Natalie Thompson said the suspect, whose name wasn't released Monday, was fired after a woman found the camera Saturday night.
"From what I understand from the investigating officers, he was very forthcoming and admitted a lot of responsibility for what he had done," Thompson told 24 Hour News 8.
The suspect had not been taken into custody as of Monday afternoon.
The chief said police are looking into what images, if any, are on the camera before they decide precisely what charges to pursue.
"Obviously it’s illegal to put any type of recording device in a restroom, locker room, bathroom, because obviously there’s an expectation of privacy," she said.
Former Clementine's employee Shannon Goodrich worked in food preparation and housekeeping. She can still describe the employees' bathroom where the camera was found.
