Man arrested after fleeing police, crashing vehicle

BLOOMINGDALE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was arrested after police  say he refused to stop and then crashed his vehicle in an intersection  in Van Buren County Saturday night.

The crash happened around 10 p.m. on Van Buren Street near Kalamazoo Street in Bloomingdale Township.

Authorities  said they tried pulling the man over for traffic violations, but he  refused to stop. The short chase ended when he crashed in  the intersection of 46th Street and County Road 388.

The man crashed into several trees, badly damaging the vehicle.

Police  arrested the driver for fleeing and eluding and for driving without  insurance. There were also several outstanding warrants for his arrest.

After  the driver was arrested, police asked the 61-year-old female passenger  if she needed medical attention. Deputies said she became violent and  then swung at an officer. She was then arrested.

The driver was identified as 59-year-old Ronald Mcnally. The passenger's name has not yet been released.

Both Mcnally and the passenger were taken to the Van Buren County Jail.
