Celebrate 100 years with GRCC with an old-fashioned community picnic on Sept. 13.
The picnic will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in GRCC’s Ford Fieldhouse, 111 Lyon St. NE. Parking is free that day at GRCC ramps.
Free barbecue ribs, chicken, hotdogs and all the fixings will be served starting at 11 a.m. until the food runs out. Families will find inflatables, giant board games, a photo booth and “make-it, take-it”
craft. Picnickers can take a trip through major events in GRCC’s history in a timeline that will include videos and artifacts on loan from the Grand Rapids Public Museum.
Criminal Justice, the Police Academy and the Child Development Preschool Laboratory are each planning alumni reunion events during the picnic. If you were affiliated with either group and want to know more, call GRCC’s Alumni Relations office at (616) 234-3939.
Attendees also can share their own GRCC memories at the Story Van, which has been visiting communities throughout West Michigan this summer.
The community picnic is just one way that GRCC is commemorating its 100th anniversary. College faculty and staff have also created a 100-year timeline, and 100 Ways to Give — service projects that will spread the celebration throughout the community.
