A western Upper Peninsula man who allegedly held his wife hostage at gunpoint, and then held police at bay for several hours, was charged with several felonies on Wednesday.

Delta County Sheriff's Deputies say that 62-year-old John Sarasin had his gun and wouldn't let his wife leave their home in Flat Rock Tuesday evening. Three hours later, a

Michigan State Police hostage negotiator convinced him to let her go.

But Sarasin remained hold up in the home until about 2:30 Wednesday morning when police eventually convinced him to give up.

Sarasin was arraigned on charges of unlawful imprisonment, assault with a dangerous weapon, committing a felony while in the possession of a firearm, and interference of an electronic communication. He remains lodged in the Delta County jail.

His brother, 64-year old Daryl Sarasin, was charged with obstructing a police officer.

The incident remains under investigation.
