The Right Place, Inc., The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), and Byron Township announced the approval of $2.75 million in total economic incentives for Grand Rapids-based SpartanNash Company.

SpartanNash received the incentive package to preserve 620 existing jobs and the creation of 72 new jobs in the West Michigan area. The deal will go toward supporting an additional 300 new jobs for the company’s future growth, along with making sure the company’s corporate headquarters stays in West Michigan.

SpartanNash Company originated in July 2013 when Spartan Stores, Inc., one of the largest grocery distributors in the U.S., merged with the Nash Finch Company, the second largest publicly traded wholesale food distributor in the U.S.

There's also word Byron Township is currently considering local incentive support under a P.A. 198 Property Tax Abatement.
