The most recent crack down of seat belt violations caught over seven thousand drivers not buckled-up. State police say their Click It or Ticket enforcement campaign from mid May to early June resulted in 13,700 traffic stops and 7,767 seat belt and child restraint citations.

The officers also made 41 drug arrests, almost 30 alcohol-related arrests, 24 other felony arrests and more than 1,200 tickets were given for suspended licenses and uninsured drivers, the release said.

The project is part of Michigan’s Strategic Highway Safety Plan signed by Governor Rick Snyder in 2013 and was through federal high safety grants.
